Pure water window cleaning uses water with the minerals filtered out, carried up a pole to a brush, so the glass dries clear with no film left behind. As a result, the windows stay clean longer. This article explains how the method works and when hand cleaning is still the better choice.
What “pure water” means
Tap water carries dissolved minerals. When a drop of tap water dries on glass, the water leaves and the minerals stay behind. That is what a water spot is, and it is why a window hit by the sprinklers looks worse after it dries than before.
Pure water is water with those minerals filtered out. With nothing dissolved in it, it dries clear. The whole method depends on this.
How the water-fed pole works
We use a long pole that reaches up to the second or third story, with a brush on the end and a thin hose running back down to a cart on the ground. The purified water runs through the hose up the lightweight pole to the brush. We scrub the glass and the frame with the brush while the pure water flows, then rinse everything down with the same water. The glass dries on its own, and because the water has no minerals in it, it dries without spots.
Pure water does more than rinse. It lifts the fine dirt and debris that a quick wipe leaves behind.
Why the glass stays clean longer
The biggest difference our customers notice is how long the glass stays clean. Windows stay cleaner longer because pure water leaves no film behind.
Any cleaner that is not rinsed off completely leaves a thin film on the glass. You cannot always see it, but dust and pollen stick to it, and the window looks dull again sooner. With pure water there is nothing left on the glass for dirt to hold on to. That is also why our pure-water cleans come with a 21-day rain guarantee.
Three stories on homes, five on commercial buildings
Our pole system reaches 3-story homes, and the hard-to-reach spots on smaller ones, from the ground. On commercial buildings it reaches 5 stories. Most of our commercial work is 4 stories and below, because the fifth story is more difficult, especially in wind.
Traditional methods put a person on a ladder or a lift, right up against the glass. Working from the ground, we can adjust our equipment and our approach around vehicles, landscaping and anything else on the property. That flexibility is a large part of why we have had no accidents and no property damage in 14 years. It is much safer for you and for us.

No lift on the property
For businesses, there is another advantage: we do not need a lift, which can damage the landscaping and comes with rental, drop-off and pickup fees. We can often clean the windows on an entire 4-story property for about what those lift fees alone would cost. It is how we clean hotels, low-rise office buildings and assisted living communities around Tulsa, and the glass at the Drillers’ stadium every April.
When we still clean by hand
We still do traditional cleaning when the job calls for it. Inside your home, we clean by hand with a professional, non-toxic window cleaning soap. We carry it in a spray bottle, so nothing spills, instead of taking a bucket with 3 gallons of solution through your house.
A typical home job is pure water on the outside and hand cleaning on the inside. We can also clean the outside only. Please let us know which you would like when you ask for a price.
What pure water will not fix on its own
Pure water is very effective, but it has limits. Glass that has gone years without maintenance may need more than one service to get close to where it should be. New construction takes at least two cleans. We explain either situation up front, along with the process, so you know what to expect before we start. Frequently asked questions
Do you use soap on the outside?
With pure water cleaning, the only thing that goes on the outside of your glass is purified water. We use soap inside, where we clean by hand.
How high can you reach from the ground?
Homes up to 3 stories and commercial buildings up to 5. Most of our commercial work is 4 stories and below.
Is it safe for my landscaping?
Yes. We work from the ground and move our equipment around plants, cars and anything else in the way, and there is no lift on your lawn.
How often should I have it done?
Most of our home customers choose spring and the holidays. The details are in how often to clean your windows in Tulsa.
